Who we are

Welcome to Brighstone and Shorwell Methodist Church, “Building a community for Christ”. This page gives you some information about who we are and some of our community groups and activities.

Brighstone and Shorwell Methodist Church is a group of people eager to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ. Jesus showed us how we should try to live our lives, and by dying and being raised to life for all of us he has made it possible for us to experience eternal life with the one true God. The Holy Spirit, who Jesus sent, helps us continue the work that Jesus started nearly 2000 years ago.

We are part of the Methodist Church of Great Britain

There has been a Methodist witness in Brighstone since the early 1800s and the original Chapel still survives, now as a private dwelling. Our new building, near the centre of the village, was opened in 1999 and has comfortable seating, a kitchen, modern toilets, easy access for the disabled and ample parking space.

Following the closure of Shorwell Methodist Church in 2021, we formed the now Brighstone and Shorwell Methodist Church.

Our place in the community is very important to us.  In addition to our own events, we enjoy hosting Messy Church, the Brighstone Belles Choir, the  Community Coffee Morning and occasional events such as the annual Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival.
